ARTS & CRAFTS SALON 2009. In spring 2008 Röhsska sent out invitations for its first Arts & Crafts Salon, and received 520 submissions, of which the museum is now exhibiting a selection of 50. This is an exhibition that questions the boundaries and the contemporary breaking down of labels. The term Arts & Crafts covers a very wide spectrum, and the purpose of the exhibition is to provide a contemporary arena for form, design, craftsmanship and fashion with a strong artistic element. The exhibits demonstrate capable and sensitive use of materials, innovative design, clear personal expression and highly provocative content – all at once or individually! Through this first salon the Röhsska Museum aims to illustrate the widely differing means of personal expression and let museum visitors share in the diversity and creativity that characterizes this genre.
